Types of deals to look for in Singapore

December 22, 2013

Many online brands and retailers offer a range of deals to compete for new and existing customers.  In the U.S and UK the online discount industry is now huge business thanks to savvy consumers searching online for the best deal before making a purchase.

The types of deals to look out for are:

Vouchercodes (also known and coupons, discount codes and promo codes)

Using vouchercodes has become one of the easiest ways to save online.  You simply add the code and the basket and “update” before making your purchase.  You can check to see whether the code still applies, and then pay for your products or services at the discounted rate.

Discounts (usually in the form of a % OFF or Money OFF)

Discounts are most often displayed as part of a Sale – for example “Sale now on – get 40% Off Hotels”.  Or as “$20 Off a brand of designer shoes”.

Deals (found all shapes and forms!)

A typical deal may be shown as “buy one get one free”, or “2 for 1”.  Deals are also given when a customer spends over a certain amount.  Many of the best involve value add ons, such as “book and ferry ticket and get lunch for free at a restaurant”.

Less common in Singapore, but  a great way to save money online.  Typically, cash back is given on products that may require a cooling off period, such as mobile contracts etc.
